May 1st, 2008 ~ Worry / Rabbits
|
I promised I
wouldn't write about my hummingbirds today, although I have gotten
quite a few more since Tuesday! :-) (Females included)
Today I'd like
to write a little about worry. I'm constantly getting emails
that sensationalize facts quite like the news media does. Today
I got one that said; "If this video doesn't scare you, you
need to see your doctor."! Of course I didn't watch it 'cause
I'm sure it would tell me something I didn't want or need to
know. I'm not in a position to change the world. I'm just trying
to stay happy in my own little world and spread that joy around
in the big outside world.

Worry Quotes:
"Worry
does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its
strength."
~ Corrie Ten Boom
"There
are two days in the week about which and upon which I never worry.
Two carefree days, kept sacredly free from fear and apprehension.
One of these
days is Yesterday... And the other day I do not worry about is
Tomorrow."
~ Robert Jones Burdette

don't worry, be hoppy!

May 5th, 2008 ~ Consequences
/ Horses
| It
was a sad day for horse racing and for animal lovers on Saturday.
At the Kentucky Derby, Eight Belles, the only filly in the field
of twenty, was euthanized on the track after an impressive effort
and placing second. She broke down after crossing the wire and
it was soon discovered she had two broken front ankles. I'm glad
I didn't actually see it happen. I just wish that the horrific
injury of Barbaro in the Preakness two years ago would have made
more of an impact on the money driven sport of horse racing!
The consequences of training horses that are far too young for
the sport's grueling demands should now be more evident than
ever. |
Quotations
on Consequences:

choice carries a consequence. For better or worse, each
choice is the unavoidable consequence of its predecessor. There
are
not exceptions." ~ Gary Ryan Blair

nature there are neither rewards nor punishments; there are
only consequences." ~ Robert Green Ingersoll

May 8th, 2008 ~ Imagination /
Cloud Figures
| Yesterday
was an inspiring spring day. The puffy clouds were providing
me with quickly changing subjects for sketching. I've been thinking
a lot about my Drawing
Everyday Blog
that will be starting up again on June 1st, so it's time to start
practicing. I'm planning some drawing and painting demos, classes
and a few mentoring workshops this summer. Private consultation,
instruction and coaching will be available to help individuals
make a dramatic step forward in their creativity, focus, goals
and artistic accomplishments. Contact me for more information
if interested. |
Quotations
on Imagination:
"The
imagination is a powerful tool. An artist can use it to show
others
the world as he sees it and to bring others into his dream of
what
the world could be." ~ David R. Becker

comes from the imagination." ~ Ginia A. Davis

May 12th, 2008 ~ Inner Peace
/ Wildflowers
| Monday
through Friday I get an inspirational email called "Insight
of the Day" from motivational speaker, teacher and trainer,
Bob Proctor. Today's letter was "How to Increase Your Inner
Peace" by Vernon Howard. It describes a technique for connecting
to your "True Self" by detaching yourself from outside
distractions. See today's story: www.insightoftheday.com |
Quote from
Bob Proctor's letter:
"Be a calm beholder of life. Mentally detach yourself. Stand
back and quietly
observe everything that happens to you and around you. Do not
resist it; merely
observe. Do not try to change or improve or destroy it, merely
be aware. See
yourself as someone apart, which, in truth, you are." ~
Vernon Howard

this week. It's called Sensational Sketches
In Six Simple Steps. I believe anyone can learn to draw with this system,
patience and desire. Be sure to sign up to receive these emails
if you're not already a member of the Drawing Everyday Group! |

May 19th, 2008 ~ Gratitude
| When
you look at today's image, you'll be able to figure out what
I did this past weekend. I am truly thankful for a very successful
show, despite the gas prices, economy and the weather! I am so
grateful to be able to pursue this career! Thriving on giving
people aesthetic pleasure, I love sharing my interpretations,
education and insights. My loyal collectors especially, deserve
my heartfelt appreciation. Without them, my art would cease to
exist. |

essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude."

gratitude isn't very much use to anyone." ~ Anonymous

May 22nd ~ Travel
| I'm
sitting here in the Atlantic City Airport laptopping you. I'm
not sure when I'll be actually emailing this. It depends on when
I can get remote access. In a few hours I'll be in sunny Florida
where I hear the temperatures are quite warm. I'm looking forward
to a change of scenery and visiting with family and friends. |

May 26th, 2008 ~ Family
| Erma
Bombeck said about the family; "We were a strange little
band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and
toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo,
borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting
pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing,
defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound
us all together." I think it's an interesting comment. I've
noticed how when you get the family together, no matter how long
we've been apart, you can still see that strong common thread.
Both physical and physiological, there's that little bit of of
each other that's in us all. |
Quotes on
Family:
"We
all grow up with the weight of history on us. Our ancestors
dwell in the attics of our brains as they do in the spiraling
chains
of knowledge hidden in every cell of our bodies." ~Shirley
Abbott
"When
you look at your life, the greatest happinesses
are family happinesses. ~Joyce Brothers
"Family
is just accident.... They don't mean to get on your nerves.
They don't even mean to be your family, they just are. ~Marsha
Norman

May 28th, 2008 ~ Home
| Just
as Dorothy said in "The Wizard Of Oz", there's no place
like home. It's great to be back here at The Sandarosa once again!
Betsy and I had a wonderful ride in the pines this morning. It
was a real treat. I'm ready for a "Staycation" now.
Check out Laraine Rose's Squidoo lens. It's packed with staycation
ideas and beautiful digital photos by her hubby, Will. |
