June 4th, 2007 ~ Patience / Rabbit
Dear Friends ~
I've been having trouble with my ISP (Internet
Service Provider) the past
few days, so I'm writing this with a patient attitude. It does
come to me a little easier
these days. After ten weeks of recovering from my accident, I
no longer feel I have to
be busy every second of the day. Patience is a good skill to
keep in your back pocket.

Here are some quotations on Patience:
"Patience is a minor form of
despair, disguised as a virtue." ~ Ambrose Bierce
"Everything comes to him who
hustles while he waits." ~ Thomas A. Edison
If good things come to those who wait,
"I figure I ought to be in for a big payoff someday soon!"

June 7th, 2007 ~ Anticipation / Hummingbirds
Dear Friends ~
I just saw my first female hummingbird
at one of my feeders. It's the
first in over a month! The initial round of nesting must be coming
to
an end. Hummers usually have 2-3 broods per season. I've been
anticipating the return of the females and their fledglings.
Shortly
I'll be inundated with swarms of hungry squeakers all around
my
house. I'm anticipating feeding them from my hand this year.

Here are some quotations on Anticipation:
"We love to expect, and when
expectation is either disappointed or gratified,
we want to be again expecting." ~ Samuel Johnson
"Maintaining a spirit of anticipation
and joy are the key to success." ~ Linda Blondheim

something nice coming on." ~ Mary Smart

June 11th, 2007 ~ Curiosity / Hummingbirds
Dear Friends ~
Curiosity is one of the things that keeps
us young. As an artist, it
has always been a driving force in my life.Without an appetite
for
learning and constant exposure to new ideas, a person can stagnate.
The internet and other modern media devices make it easier than
ever to contemplate the mysteries of our world and find joy in
the
discovery available right at our finger tips.
===<<>>===
Here are some quotations on Curiosity:
-on the Dalai Lama
"He is so childlike in his laughter. In his curiosity. He
gets excited
about things most of us are just too jaded to notice." ~
Victor Chan
"At the birth of a child, if
a mother could ask a fairy godmother to
endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity."
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
"When curiosity is alive, we
are attracted to many things and
we discover many worlds." ~ Eric Booth
"You can't do sketches enough.
Sketch everything and keep your
curiosity fresh." ~ John Singer Sargent

June 14th, 2007 ~ Kindness / Box Turtle
Dear Friends ~
It's spring and mother nature has got
all the animals' minds on family matters. Just
yesterday, I stopped in the middle of a busy road to rescue a
huge Painted Turtle.
With traffic stopped in both directions, I was glad the officer
in the unmarked car in
the oncoming lane was also a kind animal lover. By conscious
caring and expressing
love and compassion to all living creatures, we can influence
our world, one act of
benevolence at a time.

June 18th, 2007 ~ Satisfaction / Horses
Dear Friends ~
One of my dear friends is visiting me
this week from out of state. Among other
things, we share a passion for animals, especially horses. Janis
and I have ridden
twice since she arrived. It is the first time since my accident.
I am so grateful the
incident did not hinder my ability to enjoy that which I truly
love.

Some quotations on Passion:
"Figure out what you're passionate
about. If you're not passionate about something,
go find it. We do not need more unengaged boring people to inhabit
this planet."
~Ben Heppner
"All passions exaggerate; it
is because they exaggerate that they are passions."
~Sebastien-Roch Nicolas de Chamfort
"Passion is the very fuel of
inspiration. Artists, of all people, must be willing to
share their passions with the world." ~Carole Katchen

June 21st, 2007 ~ Worry / Rabbits
I often listen to people talk about
how much they worry. Although they
realize it doesn't accomplish anything, with some it has become
a tough
habit to break. Often I repeat affirmations to myself which reinforce
positive
optimistic thought. It always helps to keep things in perspective.

Some quotations on Worry:
"Worry gives a small thing a
big shadow. " ~ Swedish Proverb
"Worry is a think-stream of fear
which, if encouraged, becomes a wide
channel into which all other thoughts flow." ~ Unknown
"Worry is interest paid on trouble
before it is due." ~ William Ralph Inge
"Ulcers aren't the result of
what you eat. You get ulcers from
what's eating you." ~ Anonymous

it gives you something to do but it doesn't
get you anywhere." ~ Dorothy Galyean

June 25th,2007 ~ Contemplation / Raccoons
Inspiration comes to me largely from
nature. I love to contemplate her
spirit! Those of you who get my Drawing Everyday letters know
about
the raccoons that have come into my life. These creatures are
kin to the
bear and like them are symbolic of introspection and enlightenment.

"Contemplation is the root of
awareness and creativity." ~ Sandra Chantry
"There is no art without contemplation."
~ Robert Henri
"Art is contemplation. It is
the pleasure of the mind which searches into
nature and there defines the spirit of which Nature herself is
animated.

June 28th,2007 ~ Illusion / Gray Fox
Observing diligently, we have spotted
a second adult fox on our property.
It is amazing to see what cautious creatures they are. They appear
quickly
and stealthily and can easily blend into the brush, disappearing
before our
very eyes. One of the most widely distributed carnivores in the
48 states, this
ingeniously adaptable canine often lives right among us unsuspecting
humans.

Some quotations on Illusion:
"A pleasant illusion is better
than a harsh reality." ~ Christian Nestell Bovee
"We must select the illusion
which appeals to our temperament, and embrace
it with a passion, if we want to be happy." ~ Cyril Connolly
"It is respectable to have no
illusions, and safe, and profitable and dull."
~ Joseph Conrad
"Magic lives in curves, not angles."
~ Mason Cooley
